Last week some of the NPIS Cardiff team attended the 46th Congress of the European Association of Poison Centres and Clinical Toxicologists in Vilnius, Lithuania.
We were delighted to present 6 posters covering a range of topics including a case of intentional rocuronium administration, cerebral oedema in methanol poisoning, multidisciplinary expertise of SPIs across UK poison centres, accidental hypertensive medication overdose in Wales and therapeutic excess of analgesia due to dental pain during COVID-19.
One of our scientists Natalie Price also gave an excellent oral presentation on dapsone-associated methaemoglobinaemia reported to the UK NPIS which was well received.
We would like to thank the organisers for a fantastic conference. The talks were inspiring and gave us lots of ideas for future toxicology research. It was also lovely to meet up with other clinical toxicology colleagues from the UK and across the world, and we look forward to seeing them again in Malta 2027!
