Abstract | The aim of this study was to audit repeat non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) prescribing across Wales using a nationally-agreed audit toolkit. Data were received for 9397 patients receiving NSAIDs, of whom 57% had one or more risk factor associated with an increased incidence of NSAID-associated adverse events. Diclofenac was the most commonly prescribed NSAID (30% of 9157 subjects) despite an increased cardiovascular risk profile for this NSAID compared with some others . Prescribers should consider factors increasing the risk of NSAID-associated adverse events when prescribing these agents. |
