The Welsh National Poisons Unit (WNPU) are excited to announce that their new Twitter account – @WalesTox – is now live!
Posts feature news from the WNPU, including alerts and warnings of issues of toxicological concern, information on conferences and lectures, updates from TOXBASE®, relevant toxicology research articles, publications from staff within the WNPU, and information about future events being organised by the WNPU (e.g. medical toxicology courses), that may be of interest to followers. Tweets are targeted towards healthcare professionals throughout the UK who have an interest in medical toxicology, and are published in both English and Welsh.
Within the first few of weeks tweeting, topics have included warnings around Halloween-themed agents, such as glow sticks and dry ice, publication of the National Poisons Information Service (NPIS) annual report, the launch of the new and improved NPIS website, and a public warning highlighting the risk of cannabis-laced sweets circulating throughout the UK.
We are keen to keep followers up-to-date with relevant medical toxicology news and developments related to the WNPU – so, if you are on twitter, please give us a follow!
