Medicines shortages - AWTTC publishes resources for patients and healthcare workers

The All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC) has launched a new webpage dedicated to providing essential information on medicines shortages in Wales.

The webpage offers a range of resources for patients, carers, the public, and healthcare workers. For healthcare workers, the webpage provides links to useful resources on managing medicine shortages in Wales, including information on serious shortage protocols.

Information currently available for patients includes a patient information leaflet on medicines shortages, which explains what happens when there is a shortage of a medicine in Wales.

The All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) endorsed the patient information leaflet at their meeting in February. It is designed for all patients, their families and carers, and the general public, and is available in Welsh and English. An easy-read version has been created in collaboration with Learning Disability Wales, and is offered in a digitally accessible format and a higher quality print format.
