AWTTC takes medicine safety to the National Eisteddfod in Pontypridd

24 September 2024

Staff from the All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC) enjoyed a week engaging with the public at the National Eisteddfod in Pontypridd from August 3rd to 10th.

We met many people and told them about our work in supporting the best and safe use of medicines and explained how members of the public, patients, patient support group, carers and healthcare professionals can get involved.

Colleagues from the Yellow Card Centre Wales highlighted the importance of reporting suspected adverse reactions to medicines via the Yellow Card Scheme. We also promoted the Your Medicine Your Health, a campaign which aims to help everyone get the best out of their medicines and advises people on how to safely dispose of old, unwanted or out of date medicines.

Colleagues from the National Poisons Information Centre ran an interactive session for children and families where they highlighted the household items that are safe and those that can be toxic or dangerous.

Our stand was busy with budding young artists who enjoyed a colouring competition to win an AWTTC teddy. Everyone had fun whilst learning more about medicines safety.
