AWTTC Programme Director Speaks at ILAP Webinar

In preparation for the launch of the refreshed UK-wide Innovative Licensing and Access Pathway (ILAP) on 31 March, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) hosted a webinar on Wednesday, 5 March to introduce the pathway and highlight key improvements.

Dr Andrew Champion, AWTTC Programme Director, was among the key speakers joining other ILAP partners from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC), NHS England (NHSE) and MHRA.

The audience heard how the next phase of ILAP will accelerate patient access to transformative new medicines and drug-device combinations by providing a single, integrated platform which is now much clearer, more streamlined and joined up than its predecessor.  It will make the UK a more attractive place to develop and launch innovative products and deliver world-leading services for the benefit of patients. To qualify for ILAP, applicants must submit medicines that have not yet entered their confirmatory trial, which will give more opportunity to benefit from the support offered within the pathway.

Dr Champion said “AWTTC is delighted to be involved in this exciting collaborative programme and we look forward to working with our ILAP partners on the refreshed pathway.”
