The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Annual Conference 2025 took place on 7 November at Convene in London. The event brought together pharmacy professionals from across the UK for a day of panel discussions, interactive sessions and presentations. The conference also hosted a competitive poster exhibition showcasing innovation, research and good practice from across the sector.
AWTTC is delighted to have been awarded first place for best poster presentation at this year’s conference. The poster 'Developing the 2025–2028 National Prescribing Indicators for NHS Wales: A Stakeholder-Led Approach', was presented by Shaila Ahmed, Senior Pharmacist at AWTTC.
The poster highlighted how extensive stakeholder engagement was essential to ensuring that the revised 2025–2028 National Prescribing Indicators (NPIs) are relevant, practical and aligned with therapeutic priorities across NHS Wales. The retirement of anticoagulation indicators reflected sustained progress and demonstrated the impact of NPIs in driving positive change. New indicators were introduced to address key gaps in chronic kidney disease management, antimicrobial stewardship and asthma care, while refinements to existing measures support continued improvement. Overall, the 2025–2028 NPIs represent both continuity and innovation, providing nationally agreed tools for driving positive change in prescribing practice across Wales.
We are also pleased to share the abstract associated with the poster has been published in the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice - you can view it here: https://academic.oup.com/ijpp/article/33/Supplement_1/i13/8314692.
This recognition reflects AWTTC’s ongoing commitment to improving prescribing practice and medicines optimisation across NHS Wales.
