This guideline is aimed at all community and non-specialist medical, nursing and pharmacy staff involved in the prescribing and management of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). This guideline is intended for non-pregnant, non-catheterised women aged 16 years and over.
It is intended that this document advise primary care practitioners with practical guidance on minimising the risk of UTIs as well as providing non-antimicrobial treatment options. The antimicrobial treatment section has been written to minimise the risk of failing treatment due to current antimicrobial resistance, as well as minimising the risk of acquiring Clostridioides difficile infection or developing further antimicrobial resistance.
