All Wales guidance on adherence aids (consultation)

We would welcome your comments on the draft All Wales guidance on adherence aids and the associated Equality and Health Impact Assessment (EqHIA) form.

This document promotes a person-centred approach to identifying the most appropriate intervention, based on robust individual assessment. Assessment should consider the level of support required, the underlying causes of both intentional and unintentional non-adherence, and the most suitable intervention or adherence support. While Monitored Dosage Systems (MDSs) are often perceived as a default response to non-adherence, they are not always the most effective or appropriate solution. A holistic and integrated approach is essential to determine the most appropriate intervention for each individual, including consideration of what constitutes a reasonable adjustment within the capacity and sustainability of community pharmacy services.

The purpose of this document is to support a person‑centred approach to identifying the most appropriate adherence intervention through robust individual assessment.
